Shwim (쉼): to rest
Shwim (쉼) in Korean means to rest and is a nod to my Korean heritage.
I believe that deep rest is a birthright and a vital part of fully-embodied, whole-hearted living. Yet, in our fast-paced modern world, many of us - especially those with a trauma history - find ourselves living in disembodied, disconnected survival states of fight, flight, freeze, and shut down. We push through stress and overwhelm with little opportunity to rest, recover, and restore our bodies, minds, and spirits.
My hope is that Shwim Counselling & Consulting can be a healing space where you can safely slow down, pause, and return to a felt state of safety, balance, and homeostasis. You might notice the gentle rhythm of your breath, your body relaxing into support, or the tension in your jaws gently softening. I welcome and invite you to rest your body, mind, and spirit here - so you can access your inner resources and inherent wisdom of your body that already live within you.
